Experience is important, but Jodar seems to have come to shake things up this year. The Spaniard is playing at a breakneck pace with a lot of hit-or-miss, but in his case, he’s imposing a rhythm that makes him unplayable for any player trying to impose order. We’ve already seen how he dismantled Munar and Ugo Carabelli, two players who try to build out the point, but Jodar imposed his rhythm to disrupt their game plans and knock them out of the match. And it looks like he can do the same to Norrie, since the Brit is a player who doesn’t impose changes in pace and his game is very flat in terms of ball speed, with repetitive patterns that make him easy prey for Jodar. Furthermore, we can say that Norrie’s most effective shot is his left-handed spin, but Jodar has an impressive backhand with which he’ll counter any attack in that area.
Everything will depend on the Spaniard’s accuracy, but at this point, with his high level of confidence, it should be the same match we’ve seen in previous rounds.
